Weta Report

this is my report about weta.



Introduction

Wetas are members of the insect family and they only get found in New Zealand. And they are the biggest
insect ever and the heaviest insect. The eta weighs 50g it is the heaviest insect.

Appearance

The Weta is big. The Weta looks like a big cockroach.
At the bottom it looks like a big stinger. It has six legs. the legs looks like a spider's leg. It’s so big it’s
bigger than my head and hand and almost my arm.

Habitat
Grassland wetas lives in caves,shrubs, and a forest. Tree wetas live in holes on a tree. Ground wetas make holes on the ground called a burrow. Cave wetas live in caves and they may be found in sea coast caves.

Diet
Wetas can eat lots of things and wetas are omnivores. Omnivores are things that eat meat bugs and plants. Mammals can be omnivores or they can.

Lifecycle
Weta’s can live in mountains for 7 years and in the grass or any other places they do not live that long.
Like if a insect eats other thing then something eats the insect like a ladybirds eats something a bigger
insect will eat the ladybird. Then the weta will come in and eat the big insect.

Threats

There is a lot of animals that kills or eats the weta. There is lots of native animals that likes to eat wetas.
Wetas threats are rats, mustelids, cats, and hedgehogs.

Conclusion

A weta is a really special insect it is the biggest and heaviest insect there is. They are native and they are harmless sometimes they are harmful. Native means they can only be found in a place and weta is only found in New Zealand so there native.
